Attention School Age Rock Bands...

Optic Nerve is putting out a call for school-age bands that are interested in playing as supports for Optic Nerve in quality shows that are underwritten by Optic Nerve and independent label Regal Records.

All gigs will have good sound and lighting provided, and will be well advertised to ensure great crowds…a rare opportunity for young bands. Venues will be confirmed according to the interest shown in the local area, and pending band line-ups being confirmed. The following Flyer is being distributed:

Has your Rock Band got what it takes?

Do you want to play at a heavily advertised gig, with a well-known band?

Are you still at school?

Are you ready to play live?

If your answer is YES, then here’s your big chance. Optic Nerve and Regal Records are putting on all-age, high quality shows that feature local young talent.

Auditions begin this week in your local area.

Optic Nerve has an intense work ethic, and is dedicated to bringing musical opportunities to younger bands, and showing these groups the way by allowing them to play as Support Acts at quality gigs. Now that this endeavour is underway, all bands that are interested should make contact so that they can be auditioned (preferably in their own school hall), and 4-5 will be chosen to join the lineup.

Lead singer Amy Ranftl says: ‘We want school rock bands that have had little opportunity before to have access to an all-age venue, a good size crowd and professional production. This will be an eye-opener for them…an experience that will help them improve and develop their performance…and we hope it will bolster their passion for playing and their musical ambitions.’

She continued: ‘With all the American influences around, we think it is important to nurture raw Australian talent and original songwriting”

Guitarist Mark Ranftl was quick to add: ‘I would have done anything for an opportunity like this when we were back in school bands…we’re a bit older now, but we still remember what it ‘s like when the only audience we had was 4 garage walls (and Mum and Dad!). There is nothing more exciting than a big crowd and a nice stage!’
